“ Spectacular! Spectacular staff, spectacular sandwiches, spectacular vibe. Just spectacular! Sam was such a homie and helped us order. The wine selection is pretty dope, but I gotta try the wines to really evaluate it. ”
“ Finally made a point to come here. It's located right beside the place where people in my district go to apply for parking permits, so it was a bit surreal seeing a hipster joint situated right next to a bureaucratic hell hole. But I digress. I went at about 2:30pm, so I probably missed a lunchtime crush (assuming there is one). What I encountered was a super low-key hangout. It's perfectly nice inside, but the energy felt a little subdued. But none of that really matters. I ordered their most popular sandwich, the Normandie, which is one of those food experiences that's so sublime, you can't believe your luck. It's a very rich sandwich and I saved half for later. The way the daikon radish offsets the cheese and brisket is genius. There are two special sauces, one in the sandwich and another for dipping...and they are both amazing. In a word, this sandwich is the embodiment of umami. And the roll is like the best baguette you've ever had. So satisfying! This place is 3 mi from where I live, and if I lived any closer, I'd be in serious trouble.I also picked up a box of frozen burritos from Burritos La Palma (the best). It's a special collaboration where the burritos feature Open Market's chicken adobo. They come in a box of 4 for $20. p.s. Don't let parking phobia stop you from trying this place. Open Market is located on a busy block of mid-Wilshire/Koreatown, so it's possible I got very lucky finding a meter right outside the restaurant. But there is parking somewhere under the building and they validate. You just have to figure out where the lot is. ”
“ The Sandwiches at Open Market are next level! I got the Normandie (the brisket was so soft like melt in your mouth, 5 stars for this sandwich alone) and the Olympic! I also like the Matcha with Cream Top but I'm going to give it a 4/5 overall! ”
“ Lovely cafe and sandwich spot in KTown. I've had all of the sandwiches and my fav are the Beverly (chicken sandwich) and the Normandie -- which each cost around $15-16 dollars. While the sandwiches are great, the best items imo are the cookies / baked goods and lattes. The Hojicha latte is a must try as it gives a toasty alternative to Matcha. I removed 1 star because I think their regular food menu can be slightly limited & often they are running low or out of bakery items. ”
“ Ambiance- Spacious chill and clean cafe with plenty of seating and outlets to charge your devices. Dog friendly. Wheelchair accessible! Service- Awesome friendly staff! Very kind and helpful to people with disabilities such as myself :) Food- The hype about their sandwiches and breakfast items were very true. Pay first. Freshly cooked. I had their breakfast sandwich and breakfast bowl with my mother. Both were delicious, filling, and flavorful with a kick of spice. The Christmas cookies for this month were absolutely delightful! I believe they were freshly baked by a local or in-house baker? Love that! I ordered the match linzer star with strawberry jam and sweet potato with toasted marshmallow cookies. Brilliant flavors! Shared with friends. Unanimously beloved! ”
“ Was walking around and decided to stop by here for lunch. We went around 12:30 on a Thursday and there was no wait. It's a cute little place where you can order coffee or food at the counter and you sit and wait for them to call you. There are a handful of tables inside but a lot of people ate and left relatively quickly so it was never packed even during lunch time. They have breakfast burritos until 11 but as we went at 12:30 and I was feeling breakfast I decided to get their OM Breakfast sandwich. My friend got their Olympic and we shared smashed potatoes. The aioli on the breakfast sandwich was killer! The sandwich was fresh and delicious. Would highly recommend! The potatoes had a fantastic seasoning on them as well. Will come back to try their coffee, pastries, and ice cream sandwiches! It's also a cute wine shop with Korean and unique wines. Perfect to pick up for a birthday or a party. The service was phenomenal, fast, and friendly. I heard they have parking at 635 S Catalina but we walked there. It's that or street to my knowledge. All in all such a gem! ”
“ This is one of sandwich shops a TikTok-famous chef with the title LA's "Sandwich King" liked (https://www.theinfatuation.com/los-angeles/guides/owen-han-favorite-sandwiches-los-angeles) and I would have never discovered this shop on my own. Open Market is a corner store and opened in April 2021. [Parking]: Apparently there is free parking with validation. There is an underground parking structure off of Catalina with a giant 3333 sign (635 S Catalina St). Take the elevator up to floor G and walk out the double doors. The sandwich shop can validate parking ticket. I didn't know about it and was lucky enough to find a street metered parking spot right in front of the building ($1 per hour). The shop is located right next to Parking Violations Bureau. [Ordering]: I see this place receives a lot of orders via food delivery services. I was able to easily place an in-person order, but my sandwich did take a little bit of time to prepare. [Atmosphere]: Clean and modern interior. Customers will need to ash the staff for the restroom key. [Menu]: Olympic or Normandie sandwiches are recommended via Yelp highlights and Normandie is mentioned on Open Market's website as "our love letter to Yoshinoya and Philipe's French dip". *** Olympic Sandwich (lemongrass jidori chicken, pickled radish, serrano mayo, mint, cilantro, basil, nam jim vin, and crispy chicken skin served on baguette - $15): Not too bad and this sandwich reminded me of pork belly banh mi from Mendocino Farms except this sandwich had chicken instead of pork belly. I will say portion was pretty small for a $15 sandwich and that's somewhat expensive in my book. *** Cute sandwich shop with a pretty solid sandwich, but this is one of those sandwich shops that customers pay a good premium for an above-average sandwich with below average portion. I guess this spot is ideal for someone who's looking to grab a quick lunch without having to worry about calorie count. ”
“ Open Market is kind of an it-girl in KTown and I've been really excited to try it! We ordered the delicious breakfast sandwich and the normandie, which was kind of like this french dip sandwich. The staff was very kind and gave helpful suggestions! Lovely vibe. The normandie was delicious, and I enjoyed the dipping broth. The breakfast sandwich was also delicious, my brother devoured it quickly. The latte with the pistachio cream too was delicious. I wish other cafes had pistachio cream because it is a very niche but delicious taste. I went on a weekday around 11:00am so we were able to get a table and do some work on our laptops. There were lots of other people doing work from home too. I'll definitely be back with my out of towners :) ”
“ I got the Normandie sandwich and O.M. Breakfast sandwich. The Normandie tasted like a French onion dip sandwich, but was a little salty (9/10). The breakfast sandwich was good but a little sweet which I wasn't expecting. If you like sweet and salty combo you would like it (8/10). The service was quick and if you work in the area u get a discount. Overall it was 8.5/10. The bread was very good and the sandwiches are curated very good. The inside is also very aesthetic with small goodies that they sell! Note: They don't start selling sandwiches until 11am so only breakfast and drink items before then! ”
